Mr. Walsh founded Alpine Realty Capital in 2007 to provide real estate investment banking services, including debt and equity raising, transaction services, and consulting, to hospitality real estate clients. Alpine also provides development related services, including site selection and acquisition, market feasibility analysis, franchise and design recommendations, and capital structuring.
Mr. Walsh was previously Senior Investment Advisor with Milestone Realty Services, where he joined in 2002, specializing in the acquisition, disposition and financing of real estate throughout the United States, with his primary focus being hospitality related properties. During his tenure at Milestone, Mr. Walsh was involved in more than $250 million of hospitality related transactions. Mr. Walsh joined Milestone following seven years with Hospitality Advisors, a boutique hospitality consulting, real estate, and asset management company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. During his tenure with Hospitality Advisors, Mr. Walsh’s responsibilities included feasibility analysis, real estate appraisal, and transaction services for hotels and related real estate throughout the United States.
As Senior Vice President of Hospitality Advisors, Mr. Walsh was instrumental in managing the company’s consulting practice, performing and overseeing consulting assignments for local, regional, and national lending institutions, developers, publicly traded companies, institutional investors, and hotel chains. Throughout his career, he has performed more than 200 consulting and real estate assignments in 20 states covering most types of lodging properties. In all, Mr. Walsh has provided real estate consulting services for more than $1 billion worth of real estate assets.
Prior to joining Hospitality Advisors, Mr. Walsh held the position of Consulting Manager with HVS International, a leader in the field of hotel appraisal and valuation services. Mr. Walsh, based in HVS’ Miami, Florida office, provided financial analyses, real estate appraisals, and transaction services for hotel properties ranging from small roadside inns to five-star hotels and resorts through the United States.
Mr. Walsh’s experience includes providing services regarding all phases of development, from site selection and acquisition to feasibility analysis and appraisal, and from mortgage financing to construction cost analysis. He also has experience in the analysis of public-private partnership developments, public events facilities, golf resorts, ski resorts, country clubs, and vacation ownership real estate.
Mr. Walsh holds an MBA in Finance from the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management from Purdue University. Mr. Walsh is a member of the Real Estate & Development Advisory Council and has been a guest lecturer at The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University, has been a speaker at numerous hospitality industry conferences, a guest lecturer for the Real Estate Department at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and has been invited to be a guest lecturer in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Purdue University. Mr. Walsh is a licensed real estate broker in the State of Michigan
